Our vision is for New Hampshire to lead the nation in economic, climate and social justice. We are fighting for a state that capitalizes and prioritizes the diversity of our communities, allowing every Granite Stater the opportunity to live free and thrive.
Unfortunately right now, New Hampshire has no legal protection for our transgender family and friends. Governor Hassan recently passed basic nondiscrimination protections for state employees on the basis of sexual orientation, but we believe in a Granite State that’s all-inclusive.
We believe that everyone deserves basic legal protection from discrimination, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression. We believe that it’s appalling that our transgender family and friends can be denied housing, employment and any public accommodation simply because of their identity. We believe that it’s the responsibility our state government to protect all of us from basic discrimination.
We’ve recently launched our Transgender Organizing & Leadership Development (TOLD) campaign to fight for our LGBTQ+ community members. Our goal is to educate and organize our trans community and allies to move our state toward truly inclusive legislation and universal protection.
We work with local elected officials, community members and organizations across the state to pass proactive legislation and develop leaders who will join this fight with us for transgender protections.
Like all of our campaigns, this issue is admittedly deeply personal to us. Our staff is made up of family and friends of transgender individuals and we’re committed to securing the rights of all our loved ones.
