Stop the School Voucher Bill - Rights & Democracy NH

Stop the School Voucher Bill

This legislative session New Hampshire’s public schools are being threatened by what has been called the most dangerous school voucher bill in the nation.

SB-193 is an egregious assault on our public schools, and would siphon money from local school districts and give it to parents to pay for students enrolled in private and religious schools or who are being homeschooled.

We still have time to defeat it in the House to ensure that it does not reach the Senate.

Please sign the petition below to send a strong, unified message that we oppose SB-193.

Also, if you are a parent in the school system, consider volunteering with Rights & Democracy to protect New Hampshire public schools.

PETITION TO STOP THE SCHOOL VOUCHER BILL:

We — taxpayers, parents, and supporters of public schools – urge state legislators and Gov. Chris Sununu to oppose SB-193 because it's an egregious assault on our public schools, is unconstitutional, and will siphon money from local communities and give them to parents to pay for students enrolled in private and religious schools or who are being homeschooled.

We should focus our attention on supporting and strengthening our nationally recognized public schools, our students, and our communities and not weakening them.

I am running for House Rep for Grafton 8, and school funding is my #1 issue. Primary has 4 candidates for 3 seats. I could use volunteer help to canvas. See Fellows4NH.com

We have a similar problem in Indy. Indianapolis Public School funds are siphoned out to Charter Schools.

School vouchers only work to ensure that public schools are even more under-funded than they are now. Vouchers enable the wealthy to place their children in private schools at the expense of the less wealthy. This proposal is contrary to the NH Constitution.
